kung hei fat choi! spoken like a true asian. its the time of the year where people "start off brand new". everything must be new. in fact the chinese people celebrate their new year really really really new. and i mean, they have to wear new clothes, buy brand new money and (if i recall) cut their hair? even though im not chinese my family and close friends do exchange lai see packets, lai see packets are little red packets with money inside- for those who dont know.
we walked around mong kok and fai yuen market and couldn't help but notice the insignificant number of stalls that sold, sweet treats, nuts and traditional chinese snacks. endless lines were created outside shops that sold all things red. my friend kelly and peter were looking for something to sip and nibble on. we found a little shop that sold fresh coconut juice. kelly and peter ordered the juice straight from the coconut itself whereas, i went for a more different choice and got coconut milk with bubbles. i have been a fan of pearl milk tea and coming across this beverage; i thought id be different and try.
lets just say, i think trying it was alright enough.

mong kok was packed, the mtr, the mall and outside, we couldn't move pass 3 cm per minute and couldn't help rubbing against complete strangers. we were planning on spending some time shopping but with our lack of patience we decided to leave. brace yourself for the holidays.
